Some companies measure success by how often customers come back to replace worn-out gear. We'd rather earn your trust by building a leash you don't need to replace.
For more than five years, we've been handcrafting dog gear from our home workshop here in Washington. Since then, we've shipped nearly 15,000 orders to dog owners across the country and have earned thousands of five-star reviewsfrom customers who trust our gear every day.
That's something we're incredibly proud of—but not because of the numbers.
We're proud because those numbers represent thousands of dogs heading out for walks, hikes, training sessions, dock diving weekends, and everyday adventures with gear that was built to be used, not replaced.
We Never Set Out to Make Disposable Dog Gear
The pet industry has become crowded with products that look great in photos but aren't designed for years of real use.
A leash frays after a season.
Hardware rusts.
Nylon holds onto odors.
Handles wear out.
Before long, you're shopping for another one.
We don't think that's how it should work.
When we build a leash, we're thinking about the thousands of times it'll be clipped onto a collar. The muddy hikes. The rainy mornings. The beach trips. The training classes. The everyday moments that eventually add up to years of use.
Our goal has never been to sell you the same leash over and over again.
Our goal is to build one that earns a permanent spot by your front door.
It Started With Rescue German Shepherds
Bolder K9 didn't begin with a marketing plan.
It began with rescued German Shepherds, which quickly became our company's core mission: purchase with a purpose of donating back to nonprofits.
Anyone who's spent time with the breed knows they ask a lot of their equipment. They're intelligent, athletic, incredibly strong, and often have more drive than the average dog. Whether you're working through training, building confidence, or simply going for a walk, you quickly learn that your gear has to be something you can trust.
Failure isn't an option when you're handling a powerful dog.
A weak snap, worn stitching, or cheap hardware isn't just inconvenient—it can put everyone in a difficult situation.
Those experiences shaped how we design every leash we make today.
Even though our customers own every breed imaginable, we still build our gear with that same mindset:
If it's good enough for the dogs that inspired this company, it's good enough for every adventure that follows.
Durability Is About More Than Saving Money
People often ask whether premium dog gear is worth the investment.
We think that's the wrong question.
The better question is:
How many times do you want to solve the same problem?
Buying three inexpensive leashes over several years often costs as much—or more—than buying one well-made leash from the beginning.
But the value isn't only financial.
It's knowing exactly how your leash feels in your hand.
It's trusting the hardware every time you clip it on.
It's not wondering if today is the day something finally gives out.
Confidence is hard to put a price on.
We'd Rather You Come Back for a Different Reason
Of course we love seeing returning customers.
But we'd much rather see you back because:
- You want another color.
- Your new puppy needs their first leash.
- You want a matching collar.
- You're adding a tug toy to your training routine.
- You're shopping for a gift.
- You've discovered a different style that better fits your next adventure.
Those are the kinds of repeat purchases we're trying to earn.
Not because your old leash failed.
Because your life with your dog keeps growing.
Handmade Means We Care About Every Detail
Every leash we make passes through our hands.
That's one of the advantages of being a small business.
We're not designing products in a boardroom thousands of miles away. We're building gear ourselves, paying attention to the little details that make a difference in everyday use—from clean finishing and dependable hardware to materials chosen because they hold up to real-world conditions.
Being small also means we can stand behind what we make.
Every order that leaves our workshop carries our name with it.
That's something we take seriously.
Built for the Long Haul
Dogs become part of our lives for years.
The gear we use with them should reflect that.
We aren't interested in creating products with an expiration date or chasing trends that disappear next season. We'd rather build something that becomes part of your daily routine—the leash you instinctively reach for because it's comfortable, dependable, and has proven itself time after time.
If years from now you're back to order another leash, we hope it's because you wanted a new color for your newest adventure, a matching collar, or a new tug toy to celebrate your dog's progress.
Not because the first one couldn't keep up.
Because from the very beginning, that's been the goal.
One leash.
Years of adventures.
That's the kind of gear we believe in.
