Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our handmade BioThane® gear, production timelines, shipping, care, sizing, and custom orders.
How do I care for my BioThane® gear? +
BioThane® is waterproof, odor-resistant, and easy to maintain. Most dirt wipes off with warm water and mild soap. For heavier messes, soak in diluted oxiclean (unscented), then rinse and dry thoroughly. We recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to strong DEET-based insect repellents, which may affect the coating over time.
What if my dog chews through an item? +
Our gear is designed for durability, but no product is chew-proof. Damage caused by chewing is not covered under warranty. If something happens unexpectedly, reach out — we’re always happy to review the situation and see what options may be available.
What is considered normal wear and tear? +
Normal wear includes cosmetic signs of use such as minor scuffs, scratches, fading, or coating wear on hardware over time. Black hardware may naturally show silver underneath with regular use — this is expected and cosmetic only. Wear from chewing, misuse, improper storage, or unsafe restraint is not covered.
How much is shipping and how long will my order take? +
Our production time for most orders is 2-3 weeks unless otherwise specified. Once shipped, delivery typically takes 1–5 business days depending on location. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout, with free shipping available on orders over $75. Need it sooner? We also offer expedited processing options when available.
How are your products packaged? +
Orders are packaged simply and intentionally to protect your gear while minimizing waste. We focus on practical packaging that gets your order safely to you — nothing excessive.
Do you offer returns or exchanges? +
Because most items are handmade to order, we generally do not accept returns on custom gear. If there is a sizing issue, please contact us — we’ll always do our best to help find a solution. If there is an issue with workmanship or a mistake on our end, we’ll make it right.
Can I cancel my order? +
Orders may be canceled within 24 hours of purchase. After that, production may already be underway and cancellations are no longer guaranteed.
Do you offer wholesale pricing? +
Yes. We work with select retailers, trainers, and partners who align with our brand and values. Contact us for more information about wholesale opportunities.
How do I choose the right size? +
Visit our sizing guide page to learn more about sizing. If you’re between sizes or unsure, reach out before ordering — we’re happy to help you choose the best fit for your dog.
Can BioThane® get wet? +
Yes — BioThane® is fully waterproof and made for muddy trails, rainy walks, dock diving, and everyday adventure. It won’t absorb water, hold odor, or stay soggy like traditional materials.

Contact Us →I love the Bio Thane material it’s great but that’s all I love from my custom purchase. I paid extra for the carabiner and it does not seem heavy duty or sturdy enough. Feels cheap and flimsy. The thickness of the bio thane makes its heavy. I’ve had many leads over the yrs being an explosive k9 handler this is the heaviest one so far. I love the braided look and the tug toys. Maybe I’ll try 1/2inch next time.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad to hear that you love the BioThane material of our Trailblazer leash. We apologize that the carabiner did not meet your expectations. We will definitely take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. We also offer a 5/8' inch option for a lighter weight leash. If you have any further concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Thanks again for your support!
It’s beautiful! Thank you! Love it
Thank you so much! We’re so glad you’re loving the look of the Trailblazer Braided BioThane Dog Leash. We really appreciate your kind words and support.
I’ve been on the hunt for a biothane leash that met all the things I wanted for over 2 years now and am so happy the search is over. With 2 giant beasts aka Saint Bernards, I love that it can come with a locking carabiner. It’s the thicker heavy duty beta biothane so it feels nice in your hand and is easier to untangle if you toss it in a pile. Lastly I love the braided design and the amount of options for length and color. Even better is all the other products I can get to match it.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a positive review! We are thrilled to hear that our Trailblazer Braided BioThane® Leash has met all your needs and has ended your 2-year search. We understand the importance of a strong and durable leash, especially for two giant Saint Bernards. The locking carabiner is definitely a convenient feature to have. We are glad you appreciate the thickness and braided design, as well as the variety of options we offer. We hope you continue to enjoy our products and thank you for choosing us!
Works wonderfully for us, very grateful!

Absolutely love it! This is my fourth leash from them. I had a request to move the ring and they did a perfect job of accommodating my request.
Thank you so much, Christy! We’re thrilled to hear you’re loving the Trailblazer Braided BioThane Dog Leash and that the custom adjustment turned out just right. It truly means a lot that you keep coming back—we appreciate your trust and support!

Trailblazer Braided BioThane® Dog Leash
Thank you so much for your order and support! I hope the Trailblazer braided BioThane leash has been a great addition to your walks and adventures with your dog. I truly appreciate you choosing my shop!
Nice leash. I ordered it without traffic loop as my dog is a Skye Terrier who is low to the ground. On my old leash the traffic loop often dragged on the ground and occasionally caught my dogs front legs. Quality seems excellent.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! I’m really glad the custom setup without the traffic loop ended up being a better fit for your Skye Terrier and helped avoid the issues you were having with your previous leash. I truly appreciate your kind words about the quality of the Trailblazer braided BioThane leash, and I hope it serves you both well for many comfortable walks ahead!
Absolute beautiful leash. It also feels durable and light in the hands.
Beautiful gear that feels great in hand is exactly what we aim for! We're glad you're enjoying the lightweight yet durable feel of your Trailblazer Hands-Free Dog Leash. Thanks for the kind review, Forrest!
Love the leads with the traffic handle . I’m a small person with a big dog so the 10 foot length gives him some extra room to explore but allows me better control when we meet the many deer on our walks!
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We're happy to hear that our Trailblazer Braided BioThane® Leash with the traffic handle has been a helpful tool for you and your furry companion. We understand the struggle of being a small person with a big dog, but we're glad to know that our 10 foot length gives your dog some room to explore while still allowing you to have better control during encounters with deer. Thank you for choosing our product and happy trails to you and your pup!
Seller always responds quickly and this was my second leash from them for my new pup! Absolutely in love with the quality and work that goes into these items. Anytime I’m in need of a leash or my friends are, I always refer them here!!
